Modern Vanilla (AKA boolets smp) is shutting down on June 1st, 2026 due to the inability of the owner to pay the €40/month hosting costs. Me and many, many others have countless memories on this server, and we don't want to let it go. If you can, please support the server. One time or subscription based, no amount is too small.

The OG members of boolets came from a server called Medieval Vanilla. Rin (our lovely owner) was a moderator on there. There was some beef between Artelo (former MV owner) and the OG boolets gang, so they came up with the idea to create their own server instead of being staff for someone else. Boolets SMP was up and running in November of 2023.

It actually drew a pretty sizable playercount at the time because of so many migrating from MV. Spawn was small and cute. The spawn town grew and grew. I joined the server in March of 2024. I had just gotten minecraft jave (I've been a bedrock pleb most of my life), and it was the 2nd server I tried out. It (obviously) stuck. The community was so welcoming and I was just getting into my 2 week minecraft phase.

I built a castle! I took the design from some video on youtube and built it directly in the river right outside of spawntown. I don't have many screenshots from this time, but I do have this one:

Not a great pic, but you can make out my tower behind that beacon beam. The cathedral on the left was the chicken cult. Rivs spawned an immortal chicken once and I started a cult. SO much time went into making the lore of that place. In the bottom-right, you can make out oldspawn with it's lovely cherry tree. The path there leads up to newspawn, which looked like this (I only have the christmas spawn pics lol):

Again with the massive tree lol. I became helper in early May of 2024, and I couldn't do much. Eventually with me helping out I was promoted to Moderator and started hosting events, making crates, etc. Lots of builds, lots of memories. Unfortunately, the server soon had to be reset due to insane inflation from ppl hoarding diamonds, ruining the economy for newbies. In March of 2025, we reset the server, with spawn looking like this:

Notice the cherry tree? Kind of a recurring landmark for spawn lol. This time around, I built YET ANOTHER CASTLE (noway). Took from some dude's patreon, it looks cool. Also dragon:

Eventually, I become admin as most of the staff team lost interest, but I didn't care, this was MY baby now. Countless crates made -- I bought the ExecutableItems plugin eventually for cooler monthlies -- and many events hosted. I learned to update the server. I memorized nearly every command on the server. I suggested new plugins to Rin. I started editing plugins myself to fit our needs (with some help from AI ofc, I'm not that smart). I've put in over 85 DAYS of playtime over ~2 years. That's over 11% of my life just playing minecraft, and I regret none of it.

I know I'm, leaving out quite a bit of server history, but honestly my shitty memory is not helping much. Could join the discord and do some investigation if you want ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
